Who are the women knitters of Spirit of the Andes?

We are indigenous women who live in poverty high up in the Andes of Bolivia among our herds of alpaca and llamas and in the barrios of La Paz and Cochabamba. We earn our living by hand-knitting items of alpaca fiber and Bolivian cotton. Alpaca has the luster of silk, the softness of cashmere, with greater warmth and durability than sheep's wool. We are now a team of hundreds of women working together as a non profit organization, knitting stylish, high quality clothes for all the family including pets. We are the Spirit of the Andes. Thank you for supporting us.
